Gustav Thöni – Ski Gallery
A beautiful piece of Ski History
The Bella Vista is a small ski museum that relates the history of Gustav Thöni’s legendary career: it all started on the Kirchenhang slope right in front of the Bella Vista Hotel in Trafoi. His grandfather Georg gives Gustav his first wooden skis at the tender age of three. The young Trafoi native practices diligently, and does a lot of skiing. He wins his first children’s race, followed by the youth championships and finally the Italian Championship. A call from the national team ensues, and Gustav moves from success to success in the 1970s. A galaxy of awards sparkle in the Gustav Thöni Ski Gallery: four World Cup trophies, Olympic medals, World Cup medals and those of the World Championships testify to Gustav Thöni’s triumphal success on the ski slopes of the world. A unique collection of pieces from the world of Alpine skiing is exhibited in this very personal treasury.
