Gateway to the Ortler region
Prad straddles the world of the lush valley of orchards and riverside wetlands, and the Alpine environment of snow-covered peaks and picturesque mountain farmsteads. With its population of 3,200 inhabitants Prad is situated at the gateway to the Ortler region and, like the entire Vinschgau valley system, it enjoys 300 sunny days per year. The views are superb and the activities on offer varied, including cycling, swimming, mini-golf, Nordic walking, tennis – and even fishing in the small lake. As its name suggests, the ‘acquaprad’ National Park Visitor Centre at Prad with its 14 aquariums provides fascinating insight into aquatic life in the region’s Alpine streams and lakes.
