Snowboarding
Alternative winter sports
Snowboarders will find plenty of challenges at these altitudes, with numerous mogul runs and fast downhill slopes, while freestylers are in their element here with pristine new snow and sunshine from morning till late, with the majestic high mountain scenery providing the ultimate ‘kick’. After a night of heavy snowfall both ‘boarders’ and off-piste enthusiasts head for the slopes in the ski area Kleinboden near Trafoi to let off steam in deep snow. Snowboarders are especially well catered for, with a new fun park, plus a boarder-cross and half-pipe. Thrill-seekers should try the breathtaking run from the Schöntauf-Spitze (3,250 m) down to the valley station (1,900 m), freeriding in deep snow.
New funpark at Madritsch
Located beside the Madritsch-Hütte refuge, the new funpark boasts a slide, box, rail, table, kicker, jump, plus a permanent boadercross.
The
halfpipe on the Madritsch glacier is likewise a favourite among snowboarders: length 100 m, width 20 m, side height: 3 m
