Skiing - From nursery slopes to black runs
At Trafoi
children learn to ski straight from the cradle and this is where the young Gustav Thöni made his first turns. The
surrounding mountainsides provide the perfect conditions, in places with light gradients, elsewhere steeply sloping, warmed by the southern sun with snow as soft as cotton wool. If you prefer car-freer holidays you can join the lifts straight in front of the hotel door, and Trafoi is especially suitable for families.
Parents can easily keep tabs on their offspring in this intimate resort, with its highly professional ski school and numerous snug huts beside the slopes. Otherwise there are around 240 kilometres of downhill runs belonging to the Ortler Ski Arena within a radius of 50 kilometres.
A resort which seems created with families in mind. Take off into this
most family-friendly area in the entire Ortler Ski Arena starting directly in front of the hotel.
The host and
ski legend Gustav Thöni’s home village is situated at an altitude of 1,570 metres in the heart of the Stilfser-Joch National Park and offers plenty of winter sports activities for all ages and levels of ability. With
18 kilometres of downhill runs beginners and young children can effortlessly accomplish their first turns in powder snow.
The
practice lift is located directly in front of the hotel ‘Bella Vista’ and children find the descent easy as pie, while parents can watch from the sun terrace, or get on with enjoying the slopes on their own, secure in the knowledge that their offspring are in the best of hands. Among South Tyroleans who love skiing remote from the bustle of the more fashionable resorts, Trafoi is an insider’s tip. There is plenty to choose from, including the most challenging black runs and plenty of opportunities for adventurous back-country skiers.
