Cross-country skiing - Sun gliding
Often described as the world’s best aerobic fitness activity, cross-country skiing is not as difficult as it looks. It can be an easy glide across level or gently undulating countryside, or extremely challenging in steep terrain, but few activities can compare with the joy of cruising across a glistening, glittering winter landscape feeling perfectly at ease with your motion and the wilderness.
The
well-groomed 6-kilometre Trafoi circuit leads from the village to the Three Holy Wells and back with a difference in altitude of 150 metres, while the high altitude, 10-kilometre Sulden circuit at an altitude of 1,900 metres leads along the valley floor at the foot of the Ortler.
Thanks to its altitude it is practicable from December until the end of April and although it is officially approved for international competitions, with a difference in elevation of just 100 metres the trail is also suitable for more relaxed ‘gliding’ in congenial company soaking up the winter sunshine.
